Whitetail Freaks are in full velvet scouting season

Right now the Freaks are in full scouting for bucks in velvet and running their cameras we are going to be posting blogs from the Freaks members this feature is Southern Illinois Freak Jake Stocke his blog is Well so far things are on fire in Illinois, and not because I can't remember the last time it wasn't over 90 degrees out. 6 bucks we know well from the past showed up on trail cams the first week we put them out. I've got 5 more cams to check Friday as well, so hopefully more brutes will pop up. One buck that's showed up and looking good, we've named Fork Brow. We got a ton of pics and velvet footage of this buck as a 3 year old last year, and he flat picked up the mass as a 4 year old this year. Velvet footage has been slow to start so far though, the majority of our fields have corn pushing 7 feet tall standing in them right now. However, all hope is not lost. I found a bean field less than a mile the way the crow flies from one of our honey holes and there were fifteen bucks out in it night before last. As long as the backwater doesn't get us early season, things are shaping up to be a good year. The last time we had this much corn in the fields was 4 years ago, and we were seeing double the amount of deer as what we have the past couple of seasons. Jake Stocke
